William Brownlie, born circa 1750. William married Sarah Youl/Yuill in 1787 and they lived at Blackbog Farm, near Quarter, Hamilton in Lanarkshire, Scotland. William died in 1820 and was buried in Glassford.

Peter Brownlie (12 June 1793) was shown in the 1861 census (when he was 68) as a gatekeeper. He married twice and was first married to Annie Alston.
They had issue:
1. William Brownlie b 1827. (died 23 Jan 1883)
Peter Brownlie's second marriage was on 3 Nov 1839 to Janet Granger, born 1800. At that time he was shown as a carter, in Barony.
They had issue:
1. Peter Brownlie, born 27 August 1840 died 16 May 1908.
2. John Brownlie, born 11 February 1843 died 12 Oct 1895. John married Catherine Bain.
3. Sarah Brownlie, born c1844 died 12 January 1891.
Peter Brownlie (b 27 Aug 1840) married Henrietta Mackay Watson, born 6 July 1846. Peter was a partner of Brown & Co, metallic cask manufacturers, and died on 16 May 1908 at 5 Wilton Gardens, Glasgow.
They had issue:
1. Andrew Dunn Brownlie, born 7 July 1873 at 11 Thornton Terrace, New City Rd, Glasgow. He died on 19 Apr 1953 in Ayr. On 29 June 1904, he married Alice Scott Leslie, born 24 July 1873 in South Africa to a missionary father.
They had issue:
1. Henry Leslie Brownlie, born 16 March 1908, at 17 Montague St, Glasgow. Henry was a Minister of Religion and died 26 August 1991 in Edinburgh. On 7 Jan 1942 Henry married Alice Wright McGilvray, born 4 July 1912.
They had issue:
1. Leslie Taylor Brownlie born 24 January 1944
2. Allan McGilvray Brownlie born 23 December 1945
3. Andrew Dunn Brownlie born 23 December 1948
4. Mary Alice Brownlie born 3 November 1951
